Downloading/Uploading Files and the Tasks Window

The Files Window

The files window can be accessed by clicking the "Files" button on the toolbar, or by choosing "Show Files" from the Hotline menu. When this button is clicked, you will get a listing of the main directory of files on the server.

Double-click a folder in the list to open it. You can hold down the Option key to open the contents of that folder in the current files window (to minimize the number of open windows).

Click the blue "i" button to get info on a file/folder. This will tell you information about it, and Finder comments (if it has any). These usually contain a description of the file/folder. Click the scroll button to scroll the comments.

Downloading Files
Files can be downloaded by double-clicking the line of the file to be downloaded. The download task will be displayed in the Tasks window (see below). If you want to queue the download (it will start after your previous download is finished), hold down Shift and click the download button (arrow pointing down). Double-clicking will also queue the next file, provided you have checked "Queue File Transfers" on in Options.

You can also download by dragging a file (or shift-clicking to select multiple files to be queued)from a files list into a folder (or desktop) in the finder (Mac only).

Uploading Files
Depending on the setup of a particular server, files might only be uploadable to certain folders. If this is the case, try to upload to a folder with "Upload" or "Drop Box" in its name, also labeled with a folder icon under a yellow downward arrow.

To upload a file, open the folder you wish to upload to, and click the button with the arrow pointing upward. A standard file dialog box will appear. Select the file you wish to upload. Once you have done this, a progress bar will appear in the tasks window (see below). If you wish to queue an upload (it will start after your previous download/upload is finished) then hold down Shift while clicking the Upload button. On a Mac, you can select several files to upload and drag them to the window to be uploaded. They will be queued if you have checked the Queue File Transfers option on.

Drop Boxes
Drop boxes are folders to which you can upload, but not see the contents of. The only files which are visible in Drop Boxes are partially uploaded files (so the upload may be resumed).

The Tasks Window

The tasks window displays the current tasks between your Client and the Server with which you are connected. Progress bars appear for file transfer, sending of personal messages, and other functions. When transferring files, these progress bars will display statistics on speeds also.

When you queue a download, it appears here. If you want to start it, click on the progress bar for it and then click the traffic light "go" button. If you want to abort a task, click the red "no" button
