User
Window and Personal Messaging
The Users Window
The Users Window displays all online users and their status. With it, you
can also send personal messages that only the sender and receiver see.

Users with names in grey (or light red, see below) are inactive
(They haven't interacted with the Hotline server for ten minutes or more).
Users with names in red are server administrators ("admins" for
short). These are people who have control over the server and monitor your
usage of the server. If they are inactive, their names are shown in light
red.
The first button on the left is the Private Chat button which will open a
private chat with the selected user.
The next button is the Personal Message button which will send a message to
a specified user without anyone else seeing it. You can also double-click
a user's name to send a Personal Message.
Next is the User Info button which will get several useful bits of information
for a user. This function is often restricted to admin use only (see below).
The last is the Disconnect button used by sever administrators to disconnect
a user.
Getting Info On a User
Depending on which server you are on, you may or may not have the privilege
to "get info" on someone else. This function is sometimes reserved
for administrators. The info window contains several useful bits of information:
Nickname, Account Information, IP Address, Downloads and Uploads in progress.
Sending Personal Messages
Personal messages are sent from one user to another user on a server. The
message is never seen by anyone else on the server except the sender and the
receiver. By clicking on a user name and then the Personal Message button
(or double-clicking a user's name), a window will pop up. Enter a message
for the recipient and then click "Send". This will send the message
to the user.
Receiving Personal Messages
When a person receives a personal message, a sound will usually play (unless
it is turned off in Options). A window will pop up on the screen with the
newly arrived message. There will be two buttons: Reply... and OK. By clicking
Reply, a new send window will appear addressed to the sender. The "r"
key is a keyboard shortcut for the reply button.
